Fuentes begins term on Board of Supervisors

Louis Fuentes was sworn in today to the Imperial County Board of Supervisors.
He will serve the next 14 months on the Board of Supervisors, and is eligible to run for the seat in next year's election. The primary will be held in June of 2010.Fuentes was selected by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to finish out the term of Victor Carrillo, who left to take the Calexico city manager's job.

Fuentes was the president and chief executive officer of the Imperial Valley Economic Development Corporation from 2001 to 2005.
Fuentes also served as mayor of Calexico from July 2008 to July 2009 after being elected to the Calexico City Council in 2006.
Since 2004, Fuentes has owned and operated Becerril Air, an air conditioning company. Fuentes was also a loan officer for Marina Mortgage from 1999 to 2001.
Fuentes, 34, of Calexico, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in development studies from the University of California, Berkeley. The compensation for the position is $51,069 per year.
