El Centro City Council Candidates Debate
Two incumbent El Centro City councilpersons and one challenger squared off in a debate last week.
Incumbents Cheryl-Viegas Walker and Ben Solomon, and challenger Jason Jackson took questions from a panel, and also answered questions from the audience. The three candidates are vying for two seats that are up for election.
The event was sponsored by the El Centro Chamber of Commerce.
Both Viegas-Walker and Solomon stressed their expererience on the City Council, while Jackson said it was time for a fresh perspective. This is Jackson's third attempt at winning a seat on the council.
All three candidates cited job creation as a major issue facing El Centro. Both Walker and Solomon urged voters to return the incumbents to office.

The entire debate will be rebroadcast on KXO AM 1230 and KXO FM 107.5 several times over the next few days.
The debate will be broadcast on KXO AM 1230 on Wednesday, Oct. 21 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., and will be rebroadcast Tuesday, Oct. 27 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
The debate will also be broadcast on KXO FM 107.5 on Thursday, Oct 22 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. It will be rebroadcast will be on Monday, Oct. 26 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The election is set for Tuesday, Nov. 3.
