Chamber Group Honors Wyatt

New Imperial County display at the State Capitol in Sacramento The Imperial Valley Joint Chambers of Commerce sponsored a Sacramento Legislative Day on Wednesday, August 26, at the State Capitol in Sacramento.


The one-day event included the unveiling of a new display at the Capitol building featuring Imperial County, and a reception to honor California State Association of Counties President Gary Wyatt, who is an Imperial County Board Supervisor. The reception was held in the State Capitol Rotunda, and was attended by elected officials, including senators, assembly members, and departmental and state agency managers.

It was hosted by Aaron Popejoy, the Vice-President of the Imperial Valley Joint Chambers of Commerce.

The guest of honor was Imperial County Supervisor Gary Wyatt, CSAC President. Featured speakers include Senator Denise M. Ducheney (D-San Diego) and Assemblymember Manuel Perez (D-Coachella).

Also attending were state senators Dennis Hollingsworth, Bob Huff, and John Benoit, Frances Spivey-Weber from the California State Water Resources Control Board;  Patricia Megason, Kathy Mannion, and Nick Konovaloff of the California Regional Council of Rural Counties; and Joleena Voorhis, Bill Dohring, and Laura Parra De La Torre of the California Urban Counties Association.

The event was also sponsored in part by San Diego Gas & Electric, Sterling Energy Systems, IVEDC, and the Conveyor Group.

Assembly member Manuel Perez at reception sponsored by the Imperial Valley Joint Chambers of Commerce People from Imperial County who attended the event included Imperial County Chief Executive Officer Ralph Cordova, Jr.; Bob Ham, the director of Governmental Relations for Imperial County; Mark Gran of Cal Energy; Cathy Kennerson. Cheif Excecutive Officer of the El Centro Chamber of Commerce; Nellie Popejoy of Conveyor Group; Eusebio Arballo and Laura McDonald of SDG&E; Tim Kelley, the president and Chief Executive officer of the Imperial Valley Economic Development Corporation; Buzz Schott of Sterling Energy; and Amanda Brook, superintendent of the McCabe School District.
